As Qtechnology continues to grow, they are looking for a Hardware Engineer to join the team and contribute to the development of next generation imaging technology.

Description of the department

Qtechnology is a team of highly passionate people working to change the vision industry. The team currently consists of 16 employees and operates within the larger Newtec Group structure, combining the flexibility of a startup environment with the support of an established organization.

Introduction to the position

As a Hardware Engineer, you will play a key role in developing next generation hyperspectral camera solutions and advanced electronics for high performance imaging systems.

You will work with the design and optimization of advanced PCB layouts, development of high performance digital circuits, and close collaboration with FPGA and software engineers to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software.

The role offers a high degree of technical influence and responsibility in an innovative environment where your work will contribute directly to the development of future camera technologies.

You will also work with high end image sensors and FPGA based platforms, including advanced Xilinx technologies and next generation FPGA solutions. In addition, you will help bridge the gap between development and production by supporting manufacturability, validation, and troubleshooting activities.

Your responsibilities

  • As a Hardware Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Design and development of digital electronics, including FPGA, CPU, GPU, and AI based circuits
  • PCB layout and optimization, including generation of production files such as BOM and Gerber files
  • Collaboration with PCB and EMS suppliers regarding production and manufacturing
  • Development of test procedures for PCBA and system level functional testing
  • Technical support for production and optimization of production testing
  • Collaboration with mechanical, FPGA, and software teams to ensure integration between hardware and software
  • Board bring up, debugging, and validation activities
  • Quality assurance of hardware design and component selection

Your profile

Qtechnology is looking for an engineer with a strong technical foundation and hands on experience within advanced electronics and PCB design.

They expect you to have most of the following competences:

  • Experience taking hardware designs from concept to final product with minimal PCB revisions
  • Ability to work independently with board bring up and debugging
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with Altium Designer
  • Experience with schematic design, PCB footprint development, and component libraries
  • Experience designing complex PCBs including micro vias, buried vias, and flex rigid solutions
  • Experience with oscilloscope based debugging
  • Experience with Xilinx or Altera FPGA PCB design
  • Understanding of signal integrity and power integrity principles

The following qualifications are considered an advantage:

  • Experience with DDR3 4 5 memory design and simulation
  • Familiarity with PCIe, USB C, DisplayPort, and Ethernet technologies
  • Linux knowledge from a user or kernel perspective
  • Experience with microcontroller programming in C
  • Experience with VHDL and AMD/Xilinx FPGA development
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Experience with hardware design for AMD or Intel x86 CPU motherboards
